Ten-member ensembles of seasonal hindcasts are produced with 4 general circulation models, the CCCma second and third generation atmospheric general circulation models (AGCM2 and AGCM3), a reduced-resolution version of the medium-range weather forecast global spectral model (SEF, Ritchie, 1991) and the global environmental multiscale model (GEM) developed at Recherche en prévision numérique (RPN).

The hindcasts are procuded for 12 seasons (DJFM, JFMA, FMAM, ...) for each year in 1969-2002. The integrations are initialized from the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis lagged at 12-hour intervals prior the forecast period. The global sea surface temperature anomaly from AMIP for the month prior the forecast period is persisted during the 4-month forecast period.

Seasonal hindcasts from all models are interpolated on a common 128x64 Gaussian grid (approximately 2.81° lat. x 2.81° long.) and uniform 144x73 uniform grid (2.5° lat. x 2.5° long.).
